Cypress, Texas Homes & Subdivisions
Cypress is an unincorporated community located in northwest Harris County. The community is located along U.S. Highway 290 and is within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston. Cypress remained a small, rural community until large scale development in the 1980’s and 1990’s made Cypress one of Houston largest suburban areas with a population of around 125,000. Cypress, Texas homes for sale, as a result of the large population, there is a variety of homes choices, from single family, condos, townhomes and multi-family. The Cypress area (also know as the “Cy-Fair” area, for the city of Fairbanks, Texas located southeast of Cypress) continually ranks in the top 100 of the highest income areas within the United States.
Cypress children are served by the highly ranked Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. This district is also know as Cy-Fair ISD and is the fifth largest district in the Texas. As of late 2014, the district has nine high schools, 18 middle or junior high schools and 53 elementary schools. There is also a local community college; Lone Star College.
The Cypress and Cy-Fair home communities have numerous parks, golf courses, shopping centers, and several large master planned communities. Some parks for locals and homeowners include Meyers Park and Collins Park. Master planned communities include Bridgeland, Copperfield, Towne lake and Fairfield. As with most master planned communities, the single-family homes and multi-family homes are usually surrounded by parks, walking and bike trails and often man-made lakes.
Since Cypress and Cy-fair are not incorporated towns, police protection is provided by Harris County and the Precinct 5 and Precinct 4 Constables offices. Fire protection is provided by the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department and the Cy-Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
